"My husband and I were in town for a wedding and originally picked the Inn for it's proximity to the venue and a place to crash post-wedding. We would definitely stay here again on our next trip to Vermont! We asked to check in a bit early and the owners Neil and Cynthia were more than accommodating. They told us the room had just been checked out of but they would get it ready within the hour. Upon checking in I asked Cynthia for a coupon book for the outlet shopping down the road which she was happy to retrieve, as well as give us specific recommendations on where the best deals could be found for what we were looking for. We stayed in the Green River Room, which was very spacious - complete with very comfortable queen bed and a sitting area with loveseat and arm chair. My husband was really impressed by the huge closet and bar/kitchen area and commented, "we could live here for weeks at a time!" The bathroom was very clean and large, with a great jacuzzi tub and nice water pressure from the shower. The room was so picturesque. Complete with a cozy fireplace, exposed beams and lots of greens, reds and deep oranges that felt very appropriately suited to the classic Vermont decorating style. Vermont travel books were on the rustic desk and coffee table for us to leaf through. If I were to suggest any improvement to the staff it would simply be that the bath towels were a little worn. Overall, the grounds and rooms were beautiful and the owners were so nice!"

"We visit the Barnstead Inn every 4th of July with my 3 young children. The kids love to swim in the pool and look for frogs by the pond. Cindy and Neil welcome us as if though we were family. We can all relax and sit around a fire and enjoy a little BBQ. The best part for the kids is they can watch the fireworks from a great spot since they are right across from the rec center. I would highly recommend staying at the Barnstead. You couldn't ask for better people to surround your family with."

"The owners of The Barnstead Inn are so kind and helpful. They made us feel right at home. We came with our 4 month old and the rooms were nice and spacious. Plenty of room for a pack and play and still room to walk around. They were incredibly accommodating too. Since the baby goes to bed around 7 we didn't want to be stuck in our room. They invited us to use the tavern area across the driveway from the room. We were so tired from traveling all day with the baby, we didn't use it but it was so great that they offered. In addition, they were very helpful in recommending a good restaurant for dinner that was kid friendly. We ate at The Sirloin Saloon and they were great! Also ate breakfast at The Lawyer and The Baker, right down the street. It was also delicious! We will definitely recommend Barnstead Inn to all our friends."

"If you love charming country Inns, then you'll love the Barnstead! We stay here whenever we are in Manchester. I love the clean, comfortable, country feel of the rooms. Location is great, an easy walk to downtown Manchester and all the outlet shopping. The Innkeepers are very pleasant and friendly. I would highly recommend this Inn for a great stay in beautiful Manchester!"

"The rooms are super cozy inside of the quaint renovated barn. The location is ideal for shopping and dining in downtown Manchester. The local swimming quarry is great for a dip in summer and you're only 20 minutes from Stratton Mountain in the winter.

Cindy and Neil who own and operate this small business are incredibly warm and fun. That's why we keep coming back since we first discovered Barnstead in 2007."

"We had a great time in the Barnstead Inn with the children. The location is very good, close to the center of the lovely village of Manchester, which has an excellent Sushi Bar. What struck us most is the hospitality and kindness of the owners. Very warm and friendly people. The rooms are charming and clean."

"We stay here every year when we're in Manchester. The property is charming. The grounds, especially the gardens, are beautiful with plenty of outdoor seating to relax and enjoy the peaceful setting. A very nice outdoor pool as well, overlooking the pond.
It's a short walk to Historic Main Street where you can enjoy shopping and restaurants. The Innkeepers are very helpful in suggesting places to go and things to do."

This Inn explains what vermont is all about, historic & Beautiful!!! My husband and I have been coming to Manchester for years we always stayed elsewhere, but over the last few visits, this beautiful Inn has been appealing to us. Location is great, owners and family very personable, and over all experience!!! During the evenings we were able to sit around a nice outdoor fire and speak of pastime adventures with other guest!!!!

"Property is beautiful, rooms are huge and clean, and location is perfect if you are skiing anywhere in the Bromley/Stratton area. It was a wonderful thing to have free breakfast ready for you in the morning. Owners were friendly, helpful with directions and suggestions for places to eat or rent gear. Price was a steal for a one-night stay in a 4-person, 2-bed lodge suite. Would absolutely come back here again. In fact, I probably will be here again next weekend."

"Our Home Away From Home"

"We've been going to VT to visit family for several years, often twice a year... we found the Barnstead Inn after a few years of trial and error at other places. The Innkeepers Neil and Cindy remembered us after our first stay and always treat us in a familiar and friendly manner, without being intrusive.
The Inn is closer to town than most (if not all) of the other inns- so it's a pleasant stroll to the outlets, stores and eateries. The grounds are always beautiful and lovingly maintained. Everytime we visit we notice another update or addition to the property. The rooms offer a few different configurations to accomodate most travelers. We've stayed in 6 or 7 different rooms at the inn, all were comfortable and rustically charming.

I just returned from our most recent trip over the weekend that Hurricane Irene hit the East Coast. Neil was ready with his generator, in case we lost power... which was a great comfort to us. Luckily, it wasn't needed. We had to extend our stay at the last minute due to the storm and not only were we accomodated, but given a discounted rate. It's that kind of thoughtfulness that keeps us coming back year after year.
I have stayed at a few other inns/motels/hotels in the area, but never returned to any of those for a repeat visit. The Barnstead just feels homey and comfortable, and after the recent stay thru the storm I will add safe and accomodating.
The Barnstead Inn is quintessential Vermont and truly captures the true essence of it's environment... with it's rustic charm and laid back and friendly owners. My family will continue to call this our home away from home when in VT!"

A word from us, back again in Holland, after a 3 week trip through New England, which was absolutely marvelous. Seen and done so much. Yet our stay in your charming hotel was certainly one of the highlights of our holiday. The children as much as we, have really enjoyed your hospitality and kindness. 'you want some'? is the sentence we remember from Cindy. And kind Neil who bought a bag full of diving gear for the children in the pool, unasked. So sweet. And everything else. Plus your lovely garden, that inspired me a lot, hoped I find the time… We will remember you and we certainly hope to come back, even though it's a long way. Thing is that we still have a lot of exploring to do in the Green Mountains, since our stay with you was so pleasant for all of us that we hardly left the compound.
